Triumph Modular Wins Two Awards of Distinction from the Modular Building Institute

June 30, 2008—Recognized for Innovative Green Building Design in Modular Classrooms

Triumph Modular, the Northeast's premier provider of temporary and permanent modular buildings and office trailers, has received two Awards of Distinction from the Modular Building Institute (MBI). The company was recognized for its innovative design of the "SmartSpace" modular classroom, a first of its kind green and sustainable building installed last year at The Carroll School, an independent day school in Lincoln, MA.

Triumph received two first place awards for its revolutionary design for The Carroll School building, winning in both the categories of "Green Building Design" and "Temporary Modular for Education under 2,000 square feet." Triumph SmartSpace is the first moveable modular classroom that is built with LEEDTM-focused design elements.

When The Carroll School found that it needed more space but did not have the time to undertake a complicated construction process, Littleton, Massachusetts-based Triumph Modular responded by conceiving the innovative SmartSpace classroom. The ground-breaking classroom represents the first time any company has designed, and successfully translated from a concept to construction, a modular classroom that incorporates principles of sustainability and green design while still providing the speed and economic advantages of moveable modular buildings.

"We are honored to receive these two awards and thrilled that the MBI and the industry as a whole recognize the incredible potential of green, sustainable modular building," said Cliff Cort, President of Triumph Modular. "What excites us most about the SmartSpace model is that it offers not only a fast and cost effective space solution, but it is a brand new alternative that provides children with the clean air and positive educational atmosphere they deserve."

To win the prestigious Award of Distinction, the MBI requires candidates to meet a rigorous list of requirements such as thermal comfort, indoor air quality, day lighting, energy efficiency, architectural excellence, and technical innovation. Expertly designed with such inventive features as sun-shades to help control solar gain, occupancy sensors, and special insulation to ensure there is no mold contamination, the SmartSpace classrooms provide a healthy educational environment for students and which opens the door to exciting new possibilities in sustainable green design for the commercial modular construction industry.
